SETTING UP OUTLOOK ON NEW COMPUTERS

  • Select ‘email account’
  • Input your name and email address on the appropriate lines
  • Select ‘Manually configure server settings or additional server types’
  • Click ‘next’
  • Select “internet email” (Outlook 2010) or “POP” (Outlook 2013)
  • Click ‘next’
  • The ‘user name’ and ‘ email address’ fields should be populated
  • Confirm that the information is correct
  • Server information:
    • Account type – pop3
    • Incoming mail server – webster.nls.k12.la.us
    • Outgoing mail server – webster.nls.k12.la.us
    • Input ‘user name’ – this is your email address
    • Input your password
    • Place a check in the box for ‘remember password’
    • Click ‘more settings’
    • Click the ‘advanced’ tab
    • Under ‘delivery’ remove the check from ‘leave a copy of messages on the server’
    • Click ‘ok’
    • Click ‘next’
    • Click ‘close’ to the ‘test account settings’ window
    • Click ‘finish’

SETTING UP TEACHER EMAIL ON PC
Please see the below three options for submitting a Tech Request
1) Open Outlook Express
2) Click "Tools"
3) Click "Accounts"
4) Click "Add"
5) Type your name (ex. Paul Jones)
6) Type your full email address (ex. pjones@websterpsb.org)
7) The incoming mail is
pop3.nls.k12.la.us
8) The outgoing mail is
smtp.nls.k12.la.us
9) Type your full email address and password
10) Click "Finished"

1) Click "Mail"
2) Click "File"
3) Click "Add account"
4) Fill out your name and full email address
5) The incoming mail is pop3.nls.k12.la.us
6) The outgoing mail is smtp.nls.k12.la.us
7) Click "Finished"

SETTING UP TEACHER EMAIL ON MAC
You can check email from home using the following address: email.nls.k12.la.us
A message will appear informing you about going to an unsecure site. Just click "ok".

Troubleshooting


Not Able to Open Attachments
1) In Outlook Express, click 'tools'
2) Now click 'options'.
3) On the 'security' tab there near the top is a section called 'virus protection. Take the check out of the box for "do not allow attachments to be saved or opened that could potentially be a virus".

STILL Not Able to Open Attachments
This will especially help if you are having trouble opening the newer Word (and other office) documents because you have an older version of Office.

2) Install the compatibility pack

Send in a Tech Request including your email address and the requested password to use.
